SPEAKER: Christopher Chwedyk, Burnham - The Code Group

This year, the International Code Council (ICC) has released the 2012  International Green Construction Code (IgCC), which also references the  ASHRAE 189.1 - Standard for the Design of High Performance Green  Buildings. The purpose of this code is to allow for the 'overlay' regulation of  green building construction as part of an integrated approach with the building  and fire codes.  This seminar will trace the origins of the green codes, how they compare and  differ from the rating systems that have been (and continue to be) used, and  examine some of their main features. We will also discuss issues related to  transitioning from a rating system, where enforcement was by third party  agencies, to a code that is enforced and inspected by building officials.
